Comment:
Aedes aegypti female adult. This mosquito is found in all tropical and sub tropical areas except Japan, New Zealand and some small Pacific Islands. It transmits Yellow fever in West Africa, Central and South America and dengue fever throughout the tropics. It can be recognized by white markings on legs and a marking in the form of a lyre on the thorax. The larvae are usually to be found in clean rain-water in natural situations but they can also be found in stagnant water in rain-barrels, cisterns, tin cans, pot plant saucers, flower vases, uncovered barrels, buckets, discarded tyres, wet shower floors and toilet tanks.
